Outreach and EDI Commitment 

Since starting university, I have been strongly committed to (i) communicating science to members of the wider public - specifically young children and adults with non-technical backgrounds and (ii) making the workplace a more inclusive space.

Recent events where I took part in celebration of International Women’s Day: 

8 March 2024 - Invited talk on “Black Holes” by the Lindemann Trust at the Lindemann Trust Science Day 2024 in Magdalene College, Cambridge. Attendance: 120 Primary School children.

8 March 2024 - Flash Talk about my research and background for the Cambridge University Women in Physics Society.

8 March 2024 - Participation at Discussion Panel organised by the Cambridge University Women in Physics undergraduate society.

6. June, November 2023 - Newnham College, Cambridge issued two articles about two College events on the “Legacies of Enslavement” seminars I proposed and organised as the 2022-23 Graduate College Seminar Speaker Series Organiser.

5. March 2023 - Invited Public Talks on “Black Holes: Exotic Objects in the Universe” by the Lindemann Trust as part of the ‘Communicating Science’ event in Magdalene College, Cambridge. 2 talks given to a total of 160 schoolchildren.

4. March 2023 - Led a Treasure Hunt on “Women in STEM and in Astronomy” as part of the Cambridge Science Festival activities organised by the Institute of Astronomy.

3. March 2023 - 2-day celebration of IWD day at the Institute of Astronomy, of which I was a lead organiser. Led an hour-long Careers Panel with 4 Women in STEM and academia. Successfully applied for funding from the Department.

2. March - June 2022 - In Conversation with Two Women in STEM with Profs Tina Potter and Maria Ubiali as part of the 150th Anniversary of Newnham College.

1. March 2022 - 1-day celebration of IWD at the Institute of Astronomy, of which I was a lead organiser. Organised a Keynote Speaker event featuring Prof Belinda Wilkes, former Director of the Chandra X-ray Center.
